feeling funky

Sparing the details and color of my body’s physical state, it will suffice to say that I am simply feeling funky.

Funky with an appetite for 2. It’s my day off. KB’s at work. I’m at home and I am a munch monster who has created a good deal of work for himself in the area of dishes.

While trying to move my mental state of being from funk to spunk I have been listening/watching photography podcasts & vodcasts. One had spectacular images of silky waterfalls and instead of being discouraged by the fact that Amarillo has very little water, I decided to create my own silky waterfall.

Weird, I know. But, enjoy.

The Need

Perhaps, in utilizing our human capacity to build on the foundation of generations before us, we have inadvertently become so focused on our own building that we have forgotten the foundation that holds it up; or in reaping for so long where we have not sown, perhaps we have forgotten the need to sow. Stephen R. Covey

Into the hands of every individual is given a marvelous power for good or evil-the silent, unconscious, usneen influence of his life. This is simply the constant radiation of what man really is, not what he pretends to be. — William George Jordan

Color Management?

Lately, I’ve been experiencing amazing color shifts in photos from my laptop to the web and/or any other computer.

It is a scary feeling to know that what I post may or may not appear to you the same way as it appeared to me when I posted it.

There is a lot of discussion about this problem throughout the web and photography circles but allĀ  of them involve expensive color management software solutions that appear to be to still be at the mercy of the screen resolution and color contrast of each individual monitor.

I just shared my blog with a friend on a computer up at the studio and was embarrassed to see some of the rendering of the images being really red or really dark. Does anyone happen to know of some affordable solutions for me?

It’s coming…

V-day 2009 is upon us, men. Are you ready?

Personally, I’m looking forward to my first married Valentine’s Day.

I’m interested to know what some of the great Valentine memories you guys have and perhaps share your plans for this upcoming weekend.

I may be new at this but let me share one idea of what NOT to do…

Unless you are both just craving a night in, of course.

weathered

It’s always rough when someone tells you to your face that you look tired. Never really sure how to take it. Today was a challenging day at work and by the time I was wrapping things up I am sure I looked weathered.

KB roped me in to a Med School gathering tonight that was fun to witness as her peers and colleagues gathered to assemble Valentine packages for some hospitalized kiddos during this upcoming holiday. It is a nice gesture I thought.

While I felt like a fish out of water, it is amazing to me to watch such an amazing woman (my wife) impact lives in profound ways. It is fun to watch people smile when she tells stories, jokes, and shares her ideas.

(SPEAKING OF JOKES… she’s got a funny one on her blog that no one has guessed the answer to yet. Check it out and see if you can be the first to guess the riddle. I’ve posted a couple of clues. )

When we got home I roped her into taking my photo-of-the-day. Sparing her as my model, I took the hot seat to reveal my weathered face in all of its glory. Hope you enjoy. KB always makes me laugh.
