photo-vation?

Thanks to all who have been checking back daily to see the photo-a-day. It has already begun to shape the way I view each day. I thought I knew what to expect at attempting this photo-a-day challenge but it is suprising the amount of time and energy that goes into creating an image a day (even though I’ve cheated and pulled from past photographs to find something to post).

Today’s post is entitled photo-vation because I wanted to give a quick shout out to a couple of sites that have helped to spur on the momentum towards photographic innovation. That was a wordy sentence intended to say I want to give credit where credit is due.

But first, let me reveal a secret that yesterday’s image was taken 20 feet from the staircase at our apartment complex next to the fence that surrounds one of the garbage dumpsters. KB helped me create this image in about 5 minutes time with one flash helping to soften up the shadows on my face from the setting sun.
Ok, now on to other photographers work!

The inspiration for the Superbowl party pictures originally came  from a site called theblogisfound.com. This husband and wife duo constantly post neat images (a lot of their winsome kids) and have created the term CrazyBooth and have posted several comical images of sane people doing hilarious things. This photography team is part of a California community of photographers that are churning out some pretty neat stuff. I’m sure I will be posting more from several of the photographers I have been following in this group.

I previously mentioned Erin Woolsey (the photographer who photographed our wedding) and  her pictures from the San Antonio wedding we went to, but another photographer who was on duty that day was Chad Zellner. I enjoyed looking through the pictures Chad took at the wedding and thoroughly enjoyed his adaptation of the Crazy Booth. One of the shots in particular provided a very comical look into the proud parents of the bride and groom. Click into any of the pictures in this post to see them bigger. KB just posted a link to some more of Chad’s images on her blog.

And finally, one last source of inspiration for the day would be  Chase Jarvis. Chase Jarvis is a commercial photographer but I’d have to admit that after looking at some of his work it seems like this guy mostly has fun. This week I enjoyed learning some about what he terms “POV Photography” or Point of View Photography.

Anyway, I’ve said enough today and figure that anyone interested has plenty to look at for a while. I’m always looking for new sources of inspiration, so if you come across a really stellar photography feel free to post a link to their blog/site here in the comments.

As always, comments are always appreciated about how my own personal work is hitting you guys.
